3D Character: "Phinuir"
Project: Character Modeling (Course Assessment)
3D Information:
| Vertices | ~6600 |
| Polygons | ~6500 |
| Texture Maps | Diffuse 1024x1024 |
Phinuir is a blue alien with elongated arms, digitigrade legs (like the back legs of a dog) and yellow glowing eyes. He is an adolescent scout, learning for to track and hunt for his tribe. To be accepted into the tribe Phinuir must go through an initiation, whereby he must survive alone in the jungle for 20 days.
Phinuir is designed for a 1st-person adventure style game. The creation process started with creating sketches and making a list of the character’s qualities. Phinuir was then modeled, textured, skeleton-rigged and animated for running, punching and walking animations.
Phinuir is my first fully-developed 3D character, and I learned a lot from creating him. In hind-sight I can see better ways of modeling Phinuir that would have reduced the polygon count and added more definition to his sausage-shaped arms and legs. I animated each cloth on Phinuir using a single line of bones running down the middle of the cloth. I think having two lines down the left and right sides of the cloth would make animation a lot easier in future.
